Here are a few tips that I’ve been using or have found can be useful to make your eyes look bigger and brighter. These tips can be helpful for those who have naturally small eyes or if you have to wake up super early for school/university/work and just need that extra “fresh” look to your face. So lets get into it!
Instead of going for the normal black/brown eyeliner as i did in the picture on the right, apply a nude or white eyeliner on your waterline instead. This will instantly makes your eyes look bigger and more awake. I use the Revlon Photoready Kajal Intense eyeliner +brightener ($5.9) or the Wet n Wild Coloricon Kohl Eyeliner Calling Your Buff ($0.99)
It’s all about the brows these days and for a good reason. Brows make a huge difference to your whole makeup look and since they frame your eyes, filling them in and extenuating them will also help you achieve the ‘brighter and bigger’ eye look. If you have shorter eyebrows, try extending the tail of your brows a little bit with an eyebrow pencil. Another thing you could do is to highlight the highest point of your eyebrow as this will give your eyes a more lifted look. Don’t forget to highlight the inner corner of your eyes too! Other than that, make sure you keep them groomed, filled in and you’re good to go! I like the ABH Brow Wiz ($21) or for a cheaper option you could try the Nyx Micro Brow Pencil ($10).
Now the eyelashes play a huge role in the way your eyes look so using an eyelash curler ( especially important for those whose lashes naturally curve downwards) and applying generous coats of your favorite mascara will open up your eyes and make you look more fresh and awake. Oh, and don’t forget the bottom lashes as that makes a huge difference! I love the they’re real! lengthening mascara by Benefit ($24) at the moment.
Another tip that you must have heard a lot is to apply the concealer in a triangle shape under your eyes and this technique does make a big difference in brightening up your eyes and attracting more attention to it. To give it extra brightness, try using a yellow ‘banana’ powder to set the undereye area. There are many different brands and types of banana powders in the market today so choose whichever one suits you best. I personally like the ABH banana powder ($14) but i’m sure there are cheaper options available.
A new tip i learnt is to use a satin reflective eyeshadow all over your eyelid instead of a matte eyeshadow as this helps in bringing more light to the eyes and hence makes them look bigger and brighter as i did in the picture on the left.
So those were my 5 tips that i use to get bigger and brighter eyes and I hope these were useful to you guys and they help you achieve the same. If you have any other tips please leave them in the comments as i would love to know.
Thanks so much for reading and until next time! xx
