L’Oréal Pure Clay Mask Review!

L’Oréal Pure Clay Mask Review!

Hey guys,

Today i will be talking about a highly hyped up product which is the L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask. Now i know I’m a little, okay maybe a lot late with this review as I’ve seen numerous blogger’s reviews on this mask already but it took me awhile to form my opinion on this product. Anyways, let’s get straight in to the review!

L’Oreal came out with 3 different masks in this collection; however, i went for the Detox & Brighten Charcoal one. I have a thing for charcoal face masks or anything that claims to draw out out dirt and impurities from my skin as i just find that super satisfying.

One thing i absolutely love about this mask is it’s packaging. It comes in this clear glass jar and white/mint green lid. Its very aesthetically pleasing and gives a super luxurious feel to the product

This mask has a very distinct smell which i smelt as soon as i opened the box which i don’t mind because i actually like the smell. On application, i could tell this mask has very a thick consistency and i don’t know why but i find the process of applying this on my face very satisfying haha!

While you wait for it to try, it gives this tingly, almost burning sensation but it’s not uncomfortable or anything. I wait around 10 minutes and by then the mask has completely dried off and my face feels super tight and i can’t move it at all! The most pleasing part about this mask is that you can see where all the oil and dirt has been pulled out from your skin and for me its usually the T-zone area as you can see in the picture below.

I now take a warm wash cloth and remove the mask. It does require a bit of an effort to get rid of this mask so i feel warm water (NOT HOT) works the best on doing that.

Now comes the part which i had been contemplating for awhile. After reading so many amazing reviews, i was surprised and frustrated that my first impression on this mask wasn’t so amazing. After removing it, my skin felt super dry, my blackheads and especially white heads even more visible than before ( super weird, right?). I wanted to like this mask so much so i gave it a few more tries but came to the conclusion that this just didn’t suit my dry skin very well. Although my skin looked clean and fresh overall, it didn’t stand up to my high expectations. When i used it last week, i think it worked better than before on my skin so maybe the more you use this mask the better it works on your skin?

I know this wasn’t the best review but hopefully some of you guys with dry skin can keep this in mind before purchasing it or some of who have had a similar experience as me can relate. I think i will continue using this though to see if it becomes better with time and if not, well then there are many other charcoal masks out there that will suit my skin better way better than this one!

Have you tried this mask? If so, what are you thoughts on it? If not, are you planning on getting it? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading! xx

  1. Don’t worry Girl, I’m late at reviewing products quite often as well 😂 This mask worked quotes well for my oily skin. I once had a blemish with a whitehead, and this mask litterally sucked it out 😳 I was amazed!

    1. I think you really should, it would definitely work amazingly on your oily skin! 💗
Thanks, that means a lot as I wasn’t sure if I should even review this or not because everyone seemed to love it and I didn’t! 😄😘

      1. I feel like with these black mineral masks, you either love it or hate it. I have one that so many people rave about and I just don’t find it any good, also they are a pain in butt to take off. xx

  2. I’m so sorry it didnt work well on your skin :/ i love applying this mask to my face IT IS SO SATISFYING INDEED!!!

    1. Yeah i was very disappointed at first but I guess not all products can suit every skin type!
Haha, I will probably use this again just because it is so satisfying to apply! 😂

  3. Have you tried multi-masking? It’s applying different masks to different areas of the face to target issues. I also have a mask that’s incredibly drying and I use it only on my T zone when I’m feeling particularly oily there, and another mask over the rest of my face. Gets the benefits of each mask where you need it. Maybe you can try it with this one?

    1. That’s sounds like an amazing idea. I’ve heard of multi masking but never actually tried it. Now that I think about it, I should have probably applied this to my T-zone only and used another mask on the rest of my face. I think I’ll try it out and see how it works! Thanks so much for the recommendation! 😘💕💕

    1. Hahahah trust me, it was hard trying to take a decent picture with a mask on! 😂
You should, even if it doesn’t work for your skin, I think it’s a worth a try and it’s fun to put on! 😄💕💕

  4. I’ve heard everyone only say good things about this mask & for some reason I havnt wanted to buy it yet… but seeing the picture of how you can see the oil in your t-zone area has made me want to test it out as sometimes it feels like both my t zone and u zone are just oily hahah! I guess since its a charcoal mask it doesn’t work well on dry skin hmmm. Anyways great review! xx

    1. Same here, I think only read one review that wasn’t good! Girl, you should definitely try it if you have oily skin!
Yeaah, but I have tried this other charcoal mask and it’s works really well on my skin, so I guess this one is probably just more harsh!
      Thanks for reading! 💕😘
