5 Ways To Increase Your Blog Traffic!

5 Ways To Increase Your Blog Traffic!

Increased blog traffic is one of the many ways to make your blog successful and as bloggers, we want the content we put so much effort and hard work into, to be viewed and appreciated by as many people as possible. I will be sharing you all some of the ways that have personally helped me to increase the traffic on my blog tremendously and hopefully these can help you too!

Social Media

No matter how good your content is, if you are not promoting it through social media it might as well not exist. Promoting your blog takes time and effort but it is so worth it in the end. The best social media for promoting your blog in my opinion is Twitter and i kid you not, my views have literally doubled since i’ve started using it. Instagram is good too. Although i don’t get as much direct views from it, it is definitely worth using because brands love it and as your followers grow, so will the views on your blog. I don’t use Facebook or Pinterest; however i’ve heard many bloggers say how much Pinterest has helped their blog so my next goal is to start promoting my blog there as well.

Catchy Titles

You need to make sure that the title of your blogpost is catchy because that is ultimately what makes people click and decide if they want to read further or not.  Try to look at it from a third person perspective or take someone else’s opinion on if they they think the title is catchy enough. By no means should you do ‘clickbaits’ as that will only affect your blog negatively in the long term. Here are some tips:

  • Keep it short and focused
  • Use numbers- It lures people’s attention and tells them exactly how much they are going to get. “5 simple ways to..”, “10 reasons why…”
  • Use adjectives: Simple, Efficient, Unbelievable, Essential, Strange, Fun, Free.
  • Use trigger words such as “why”, “what”, “how” or “when”.

Be consistent

This seems quite self explanatory but the more times you post, the more views you will get. If you post consistently, your readers will be right there with you consistently reading your posts as opposed to if you post one time and then again months later, your views will definitely drop. I stick to posting 2 times a week as that is what is comfortable for me. Whatever you decide, just make sure you stick to a routine as it will let your readers know exactly when your post will be going up.

Visual Appeal

We are all visual creatures and incorporating good photos in your blog posts can substantially increase your blog views. Try making your feature image as aesthetically pleasing as possible because that’s what your audience will see at first before deciding whether or not to view your post.. Try as much as you can to use your own original photos instead of getting them off the internet at that gives your blog more of a personal feel.

Engage

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again- engagement is key. Think about, there are million of bloggers out there so how do you intend to stand out? Read other blogs, like, comment, share, join chats/pods/threads! There are so many ways to engage and once other bloggers know about you, they are more likely to visit your blog and read your posts regularly hence increasing your views, and hey you might just make some other blogger friends in  the process which is always nice!

What do you do to increase your blog traffic? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading! xx

  1. Instagram is one of social media platforms, as you can get creative with pretty photos and a short text to go a long 🙂 I love when bloggers take their own photos, instead for googling some instead. The photos by no means have to be perfect, but I’ll always prefer when people make an effort to post some original photos <3

    1. Yeah, that’s what I love about Instagram, but my problem with it is that it’s so hard to gain genuine followers and it always seems so competitive! 😅
I totally agree, I love blogs that have original photos even if they are not the most professional ones! 💗

  2. Amazing blog!! .. I donot use twitter at all or pinterest though I have profile. Will start using it from now.. Thank you for sharing simple and seems to be effective tricks

    1. I just started a Twitter, but it has been really hard to gain followers/interest. I usually post about once a day. Did you use specific hashtags on your Twitter? Comment frequently? What do you think helped the most? Thanks!

      1. Okay so what helps the most for me is to take part in comment threads! There are blog accounts on twitters that host these comment swap threads weekly where you can share your blogposts with other bloggers and this way you comment on their posts and they comment on yours! Also taking part in blogger chats can be helpful! You can also tweet your blogpost and tag accounts on twitter that retweet blogposts so that will mean your post can be seen by a bigger audience! Hope that was helpful! 💗☺️

    2. You’re welcome! Yeah sure!

      1. Are there any specific accounts you can suggest? Or places you go in comment threads? I’m not very good with Twitter haha

  3. Engagement seems to be the biggest thing that has worked for me. I would also like to add that bloggers can actually lose followers and views if they don’t engage with their readers. I’ve unfollowed a couple blogs so far for that reason. It gives off the vibe that they think they’re better than you or something, even if that’s not their intention. I’m not saying you have to reply back to every single comment or anything like that, but if you do notice particular readers steadily commenting on your blog, it wouldn’t hurt to check out some of their posts and leave a comment, as a way of showing appreciation. You are doing great in that aspect though because you have a lovely blog that is doing very well, and you give off a friendly vibe and seem engage with all your readers. 🙂

    1. Thank you Britney! That means so much to me! ♥️♥️
And yes I totally agree with you! I also have unfollowed a couple of blogs because they never seem to engage with their readers and that really demotivates me from reading their content or leaving a comment. Omg I do get that vibe from them, I thought it was just me haha!
Thanks so much for this lovely comment!!😘☺️

  4. I’m still not on social media and probs never will… well rip blog. jk but yeah let’s see how far I can go without it. lol 😆 The tips are all good though.

    1. Oh yeah, I’ve read some bloggers saying that they can’t seem to make Pinterest work for them so I’ve been a bit hesitant in trying it out! But I think it’s worth a try and as you mentioned takes time! ☺️💕

  8. Great tips! I agree that engaging with others and using social media is an excellent way to gain more readers 😍. If you figure out Pinterest I’d love to know what to do. 1. Haha! Same here, I’m very hesitant on using Pinterest because I have no idea how to promote my content there but I will surely figure it out and let you know! 😘
      You’re welcome! 💕

  9. Great tips thank you!! Any tips for if I want to keep my blog anonymous to those that I know and just keep it for those online. I can’t really promote on social media so not sure how to increase engagement!

    1. Thank you Caroline! ☺️
I have kept my blog anonymous and still use social media such as twitter and Instagram. Just make a separate account for both and make sure not to follow anyone you know (even mutual friends)! This might sound extreme but if you are still paranoid that someone may find your account, just block them! They won’t know you have blocked them and they never be able to see your social media’s! xx

  10. Very insightful, twitter is an avenue that have made me reach wider audience as well but I still need to more while incorporating many of these your amazing tips. Thanks for this great work

    1. Hi! I’m so glad this post could be helpful to you!
I would recommend following similar accounts as yours here on WordPress and engaging with them (liking and commenting on their posts)
Other than that social media is sooo helpful especially twitter as I mentioned in the post! If you have a twitter account take part in comment threads and chats! Hope that was helpful! If you need more help, you can message me on Instagram! Instagram.com/makeupmaniaccc 💕

  11. Great post. Very useful tips. I’ve been blogging once a day. Looking forward to blogging more. I promote my blog on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. I’m going to try Pinterest soon. Trying to figure how to use it.

    1. You’re welcome!
I use everything other than Facebook and I’m actually also trying to get traffic from Pinterest but it seems a bit more complicated than the other social media’s!

  12. Thanks for the tips! I am super new at this. Been posting to Pinterest, but I am afraid to post to Insta or Facebook. No one in my life other than my husband knows I am doing this 😬

    1. You are welcome! 💗
I totally get you, very few people in my life know about my blog but I still post on insta as for fb I don’t think I’ll be using that haha! You could try posting to Twitter! 💗

  13. Hey,
I found this so so useful and I will definitely be trying these things out. Thank you so much!!
I blog over at https://girlalert.wordpress.com/. It’s just my little corner of the internet where I can be myself. I still prefer to be anonymous for security and it allows me to express myself more freely without backlash or embaressment. I talk about my feelings, experiences, motivation, advice pretty much anything and everything. It’s a platform where everyone can be themselves and voice their opinion without shame of being self-conscious. My posts are meant to be reassuring because I know that often I feel like I am alone against the world and that only I feel a certain way but by exposing myself other can connect to my material and know that they aren’t alone and that they can get through this.

Oh by the way I love your way of writing and communicating, in fact I followed 😉

    Love,
    Girlalert xxx
I would love for you to check it out and I would love to hear your views on it.

      1. I would love to hear your views I actually on just uploaded my first ever written poem in life. I always struggled with writing them so it may not be perfect but it’s my first and I am super excited to hear your opinion and take on it!!! xxxx

  14. Just an outstanding article… The main thing for every blogger is the content of his or her blog, but social media plays a great role. Yes there are some blog which are getting massive amount of traffic without sharing content but because their content are very valuable. Like I have writen an article about removing youtube logo and YouTube title link of embedded videos, i didn’t share that it any social media platforms but its in the page of google of any keywords regarding YouTube logo removals. if ppl are searching your keywords then it’s very easy to rank in number one page but must have to update blog on the daily basis to make it popular and write about those stuff which are being search in Google and people are looking for….

    1. This is such great advice, thanks for sharing! This is where SEO comes in and I am definitely going to be looking in to it because you are right, that way readers come to you instead you going to the readers! xx
