How To Write A High Quality Blog Post In 6 Steps!

When it comes to writing blog posts, quality always beats quantity. That does not mean that you post once a month and leave your readers wondering when they will hear from you again. Writing high quality blog posts on a regular basis is what makes a great blogger. It is also what will set you apart from the others. Here are 6 steps that will help ensure that your content is nothing short of high quality!

First step to creating a high quality blog post is to provide your readers with valuable content. Find out who your audience are, what they want and give that to them. It is important that you are creating content that is targeted at your audience. If you are a beauty blogger, your audience will definitely not appreciate a blog post about ‘how to manage your financial debt’. Also, make sure your content is original. Sure, you can take ideas from other articles but always give your own personal ideas and opinions because that is what your readers are interested in. Another thing to keep in mind is that your content should always aim to help others. Whether that is giving them tips, inspiring them or helping them learn something new. At the end of the day, valuable content is what will have your readers coming back for more.

This is something i have recently started doing and found that my posts seem to be doing way better than before. I feel like so many of us overlook this step. This could be because firstly, researching can be time consuming and secondly, we like to think that we know everything. If you want to create a high quality blog post, then this step crucial. By researching, you can have access to so much more information that you may otherwise overlook. You can also provide links in your blog post to useful articles from reputable sources. As Karol K. said in his ‘How To Write A Good Blog Post‘ article that “people don’t care about what you think, they care about what’s in it for them.” All this will help you gain your reader’s trust. It will let them know that you are providing them with useful information, not just something you came up with from the top of your head!

Nothing will make your readers exit out of your blog posts faster than a messy structure. It is great to use the typical introduction, body and conclusion styled structure. High quality blog posts take full advantage of headings and subheadings to organize their information. They great for on page SEO (which i will talk about in a bit), and make your content easy to read. Your readers will get overwhelmed if your entire post is a huge block of text with no paragraphs. It is just not visually appealing. Do not make your posts too long either. People tend to get put off by long posts so keep it anywhere between 300-1200 words. Here are some tips to keep in mind as provided by WebpageFX:

  • Keep paragraphs short
  • Have one idea per paragraph
  • Use bullet-ed lists
  • Apply headings to break up your post into logical sections
  • Use bold and emphasis to highlight key terms and concepts
  • Keep your writing clear and avoid ambiguous language

It is important to not only create a high quality blog post for your readers but also for search engines. You have to optimize your blog post for on page SEO to rank higher on search engines such as Google and in turn gain more traffic. For that, you will have to pay attention to things like focus keywords, meta descriptions, image alt tagsheadings and internal/external linking. This all can seem very overwhelming, trust me i have been there. I have been working really hard on my SEO lately. The plugin Yoast has literally been my savior as i am not the most tech savvy person. My DA has already gone up by a few points since i have started using it. I would highly recommend it as it makes the whole process of on page and off page SEO so much more easier.

No one likes reading a blog post full of spelling and grammatical errors. I always make sure to proofread my work at least 2-3 times before actually publishing it. Some times, i will end up adding or removing information and other times i will find the silliest spelling/grammar mistakes. I feel that what works best for me is if i write the blog post one day and then edit/proofread it the next day with a clear mind. Of course, this is not always possible as sometimes we are on a time crunch but try utilizing this tip whenever possible!

These might seem like a lot of steps to do at first, but once you get the hang of it- you will realize that these steps are actually quite simple and barely take any time. Plus, creating high quality content on a consistent basis is what will increase your traffic, help you rank higher on search engines, improve your DA and so much more. All that extra effort is definitely worth it in the end.

    1. Ahh such a great idea to get him to proof read it! And omg yes, always makes me so happy to see that that green light hahah!

  10. Huda your tips are amazing! I need help with SEO, still trying to understand it more😂. My tip for writing high quality posts is for you to add your personality while you are informing or teaching your audience. Everyday we read different posts but what will make a person stand out is by putting a little something extra special in it that represents them. Nice tip on researching first, going to start doing this on all my posts no matter what I’m writing.
